Cross-border carriers in the commercial zone

Written for Mexican-owned trucking companies moving freight across the U.S./Mexico border within the 50-mile commercial zone. Carriers must be domiciled in Mexico, maintain a U.S. address, and carry separate coverage for operations south of the border.

Who qualifies

  • Trucking company domiciled in Mexico with a U.S. address
  • Active MX and USDOT numbers registered with FMCSA
  • Hazardous materials permit issued by FMCSA where hazmat is hauled
  • Complete schedule of commodities hauled
  • Separate coverage in force for operations within Mexico

Separate hazmat and non-hazmat policies can be issued for the same owner.

Driver requirements

  • Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience
  • Copy of international CDL in lieu of MVR for Mexican national drivers

What we don't write

Physical damage on this program. Autos in transit, hazardous materials requiring limits above $1,000,000 CSL, dump trucks, cement mixers, tow trucks, livestock haulers, commercial buses and tour vans, emergency and government-owned vehicles, private passenger vehicles, motorcycles, travel trailers and motor homes.
